Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.
We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.
Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

| Summary: It sure helps to use the right tool | ||
| I had been on all sorts of adventures trying to get VHF-hi stations to come in reliably. In my opinion, no UHF antenna can do 7-13 well, even the big 8-bays. I tried a homemade 7-13 Yagi from a design off of the web, and it was able to grab a 7, a 12, and a 13, all at about 45 miles. But I really wanted an 8 that is 70 miles away, and the homemade job just didn\t do that. I got the 1713 for Christmas and swapped it with the homemade one on a decent weather day. Right away, there was a huge improvement on the 45-mile stations; dropouts basically disappeared, and SNRs are running over 22:1. As for the RF8 at 70 miles, it is still just below the noise margin on most days. It would help if I could get some more elevation on it, as it is not high enough to see over my neighbor\s house, but I have a 9022 up on top for UHF. It does get it good enough to watch most nights. Switching from a Channel Master 7777 to the top Radio Shack preamp (with a UVSJ added) has helped it a little. I would recommend this antenna to anyone who needs to beef up their VHF-hi. | ||

| Summary: Excellent directional high VHF antenna for the price | ||
| Good choice for channels 7-13. I\m using it in a very difficult mountain location where antennaweb.org says I should get no digital reception of any kind. Getting only one station consistently, and it\s 50+ miles away. Channel Master preamp keeps it solid under any conditions. I picked up a second channel 50 miles away after the leaves dropped last fall. I\m hoping I don\t loose it when the trees fill in this spring. I have received two channels once or twice from almost 70 miles away under what I suppose where perfect atmospheric conditions. This is a quality antenna at a reasonable price. | ||

| Summary: Performed as promised | ||
| We are 51 miles NW of two Seattle VHF transmitters with one small mountain blocking line-of-sight. This antenna, when amplified with a Channel Master 7777 pre-amplifier, currently pulls in channel 9 (21.7 kW transmission strength) but not 11 (12.5 kW). Good blue antenna but not a fringe (violet) antenna. Our much larger, discontinued Radio Shack antenna does better pulling in both stations. But I\ll keep the YA-1713 because when Canada switches over in 2011, I can point it towards them; and 11 is awaiting permission to increase its transmission strength. I also like the smaller design giving it less wind resistance during winter storms. Glad I bought it and would recommend it when fringe reception is not required. | ||

| Summary: Works as advertised | ||
| Definitely did the job. Right after the official DTV transition channels 7, 9, 11, and 13 moved to VHF high band frequencies (around 200 MHz) and subsequently we lost them. This antenna picks them up and since we already had good reception of the UHF channels I didn\t need another antenna for them. I tried several store bought indoor antennas and even built one of the bow-tie antennas but nothing worked. My old roof top antenna was completely useless at the VHF high band frequencies. No complaints. One note is that it is a large antenna > 10\ definitely not an in-door solution. | ||

| Summary: The GO-TO VHF High-Band antenna when conditions are tough! | ||
| While the yagi is an old design, it works beautifully, and provides excellent directivity and gain on channels 7-13. Use it when you have digital high-band VHF TV stations that are hard-to-get because of weak signal strength or multipath that causes freezing, drop-outs and tiling. I have found that, when coupled with an AntennasDirect XG-91 UHF antenna and a Channel Master Titan 7777 that it is a deep-fringe demon that will exceed the capabilities of combination VHF-UHF antennas at considerably lower cost. | ||
