Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

| A wind storm damaged my AntennaCraft HD1850 so I replaced it with the HD9095 that provides a signal strength at or near 100%. As compared to the AntennaCraft at 60% on the best days. The 9095 is at about 75% on the worst reception days. This is with all other factors the same - rotor - Winegard AP8275 pre-amp. All stations are UHF digital so I thought that I no longer needed a VHF antenna. I have recently learned that some stations are changing to VHF digital on June 12. It is nice that I can connect a VHF only antenna to the 9095 without causing a loss of signal strength (insertion loss). | ||

| My experience with Winegard UHF yagi antennas has been spotty: while they are rugged, I have replaced several of them in the past few years for people who live in areas with a lot of UHF stations because they underperformed in medium to deep-fringe situations. I am at a loss to explain this, because my experience with Winegard is generally pretty good, but the HD series of Winegard UHF antennas seems to have some reception issues that I was able to solve by replacing them with either a Channel Master 4228 or an AntennasDirect XG-91. This is a fairly heavy antenna by UHF standards, it can create some long-term problems with some rotators because of it's front-heavy design. It mounts from its end, and not in the middle like most yagis, so it is a bit unbalanced when mounted on a rotator. I have seen 2 Channel Master rotator motors fail when using this antenna, and I suspect that the mounting imbalance could have been the cause. | ||
