Summary: Oh!....... its just a really super antenna fellas,...... just super!
When I recently purchased the brilliant new HD8200U, at first I was skeptical. Then I got a look at it, and the unit is nice (as was so on the hunky brute that did the install), sturdy enough, good materials, and my personal favorite; a big thick pole on which to mount it! I watched the sweaty guy as he simply mixed a good bit of concrete, poured it in the hole, and sank that hefty pole in clear to the anchor nuts! Delightful! I mean really super, and the fella had no trouble with it at all, a real man. Well anyhoo, I just love my reception; fabulous! Think I\ll even call Ramone back to install the amplifier, and service the pole!

Summary: great antenna
i would rate this as a great antenna. we live 70 to 75 miles from dallas and can pick up almost all their stations and all of the texoma channels. took a little while to figure out how to assemble and is very large. on the end of a long pole a little hard to get up in the air because of the weight of it. overall a great item so far.

Summary: Great Workmanship Means Easy Assembly
The large box that this arrived in was a little dented, but this large antenna was packaged well so that no damage occurred. The assembly instructions were illustrated quite well and assembly was very easy. I had somebody hold the antenna up while I was on the roof to grab it. It was so light and easy for me to mount to the mast. I could not have asked for easier installation. The reception improved from the antenna it replaced. I have a rotor, but still plan on getting a preamplifier so that I can pick up more stations without having to rotate the antenna. The only reason I need the preamplifier is because of handicapped seniors in the house that are unable to reach the rotor handle to adjust the antenna's position. Otherwise, I would not need it. I easily pick up stations 75 miles away.

Summary: Now . . . this is a great antenna!
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3CFVWJ4JSAWBX The conversion from analogue to digital was a dirty thing to do to the television viewing public. However, it is a fact now. In the 1980s, one of our neighbors told us that she was getting cable television for only $12 a month and no commercials. How much is satellite dish service or cable now? And there are commercials! We don't know because we have never purchased a monthly subscription, but we do know the price is sky high now . . . and it's every month. Perhaps it's because we grew up in the age of "free" television, but when the digital conversion took place, we went out and got our digital conversion box and bought this antenna. This is a very brief clip showing my husband working with that first antenna. The directions were easy to follow and the antenna was with us for almost a year until the January 2010 ice storm. Unfortunately we did not break over the antenna pole before the storm struck and that first antenna was ruined. However, even ruined, the antenna still brought in television broadcasts from Oklahoma City which is 70 miles away. We replaced that antenna in June 2010, ordering the exact same one from Amazon, (free shipping) and this antenna, like its predecessor, is working well.

Summary: Obsolete Analog Antenna
This antenna is designed for analog TV signals that are no longer in use. The huge elements are fragile and vulnerable. Why the heck are they still selling this thing!!??

Much better to buy the Winegard HD7698P HDTV High Band VHF-UHF Antenna. This is a DIGITAL antenna, intended for the current TV signals that are being broadcast. It's almost identical to the 8200U, but the elements are now the correct size. It's the best antenna on the market for high-gain needs.

Don't buy the 8200U!! They should quit selling it!!!
