Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.

Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

Summary: Don\t over look this one!
I installed a Winegard HD8200u antenna with pre-amp outside my shop in Logansport, IN. I live 75 miles north of Indianapolis and 60 miles south of Fort Wayne. I have temporarily installed this antenna 7 feet off the ground, the coax is lying on the ground! I receive 6,8,13,18,20,23,29,40, and 59 when pointed south. When I manually turn the antenna north I receive 6,15,16,18,22,23,25,28,33,and 46. Many of these channels are from the larger cities. This is the best investment I\ve made in a while! Eight of my friends a going to purchase the same antenna! We plan on installing 16\ high on an inch and a quarter heavy duty pipe. We have manufactured a manual swivel with 45 degree directional stops. The pipe will have an anchor pin on the ground and attach to the facia with a dual hole strap. The picture is perfect and installation was simple with 2 people!

Summary: Excellent antenna for all channels, digital and analog
I used one of these antennas for about 8 years and found it to be a real \work horse\. Mounted on a 30-foot tower with rotor, and distribution amp inside the house--pulled in signals both near and distant (approx. 90 miles) and I reside in a somewhat low-lying area. In reference to an earlier post that this antenna should be discontinued since the digital transition, there are digital tv channels broadcasting on the low band vhf. Consequently, antennas which are designed for both low and high vhf as well as uhf are still necessary. Note: I replaced the HD8200 earlier this year with a HD7698P, and have been extremely pleased with the results of this unit, as well.

Summary: Oh!....... its just a really super antenna fellas,...... just super!
When I recently purchased the brilliant new HD8200U, at first I was skeptical. Then I got a look at it, and the unit is nice (as was so on the hunky brute that did the install), sturdy enough, good materials, and my personal favorite; a big thick pole on which to mount it! I watched the sweaty guy as he simply mixed a good bit of concrete, poured it in the hole, and sank that hefty pole in clear to the anchor nuts! Delightful! I mean really super, and the fella had no trouble with it at all, a real man. Well anyhoo, I just love my reception; fabulous! Think I\ll even call Ramone back to install the amplifier, and service the pole!

Summary: HD8200U Makes Digital TV
I live 60 miles from Mt. Wilson in the hills zip code 92651 with trees and and houses as clutter. Of the Los Angeles stations the FCC web site said I should receive with 40dBm or less (see their DTV map web site) there is only one I don't get (and it's a shopping channel anyway). I didn't need a preamp (my old antenna did!). All channels are 100% according to my Craig DTV converter. I mounted on the roof peak of a single story ranch, then used 10' pole from JK Electronics in Cypress CA. I used 50' of coax (most of it's coiled in the attic).

Who needs cable!

Summary: great money saver
The picture with the antenna provides a high def picture as good as we ever got from dish network. We are located about 50 miles from the closest station and 100 miles from the most distant one. The first day we were getting three public broadcasting stations the next day they were gone and haven't shown up again. At the present time we pick up all the networks and some of the specialty stations. It took two males about 2 hours for complete installation. I wouldn't try it with less than two people.
