Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

Summary: OK, but check the Winegard website for the true rating
Surprisingly the UHF rating is rather low (35 miles) whereas the VHF rating is almost twice that (60 miles), these are the ratings directly from Winegard. Had I known this prior to purchase, I would not have bought this antenna. The dealer listed this antenna as 60-90 mile range. With UHF I had problems, tried the HD9095 (UHF only)but results were marginal although this is rated for 60 miles on UHF. This leads me to believe that the UHF construction from Winegard is not very good in my opinion. My mom lives 1/2 mile down the road and has an older channelmaster 3678 rated at 60VHF/60UHF, it pulls both UHF and VHF in beautifully. Unfortunately this model has been discontinued. Anyway I'm going to take the Winegard down and replace it with the channelmaster 3679 rated 50VHF/60UHF

Summary: Oldstyle rooftop antennas actually work
As for the complaint from honesty in advertis. For many years I made my living installing antennas. These "cute" new style antennas work great... Provided you have strong signals, no problems with ghosting, and don't need to receive weak VHF signals. So the rooftop antennas are visible!! I have a mountain right behind my house. Without a good directional antenna I get ghosts and color distortions so bad it is unwatchable. As for Winegard antennas vs some other brands. From experience I know they are well made. Especially for a mid to large size VHF antenna this is an important consideration if you want it to survive adverse weather. For a UHF only antenna the construction details are not quite as important but will affect how long it works well.

Summary: A great all-around all-channel TV antenna for fringe area reception
If you live 30-50 miles from the transmitters, and need VHF as well as UHF reception capability, this antenna should be on your shortlist: it's rugged and well-made, easy to install and very powerful, especially on hard-to-get low-band VHF stations (Channels 2-6) It's not the smallest antenna you can buy, but it is not an eyesore, either, and it gets the job done well. Add a good preamplifier like a Winegard AP-8275, Winegard HDP-269, or a Channel Master Titan 7777 if you need more signal strength or plan to run multiple TV sets from this antenna.
