Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.

Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

Rating: 1 (very poor) Nickname: Brian Date: 2009-07-20
Summary: OVER STATED CEA CODE
Terk has over rated this on theier web page and so has so many companies because of Terks Spec page. this antenna is rated Blue as you can read on this web page and if you go to terks web pages they rate it as PINK. BULL BUTTER... They are selling this discontinued Winegard Antenna using thier own name and boosting the CEA CODE to PINK. Way to many choices to buy direct from Winegard and get newer Technology. if you need an indoor fm antenna then Terk is you company if you need an outdoor antenna buy from Winegard. Also the Tech dept {Scott} told me that i am pointing my antenna the wrong way that the large side of the antenna must be pointed in the direction of the signal and i had to explain to their Tech dept that the antenna must be small end toward the signal so they have a Tech dept that would probaly be better served if they just didnt answer the phone. pritchardservices@windstream.net email me if more info is needed

Summary: You can get much better for less
Before we go any further, you should know that TERK buys this antenna from Winegard. It is the old Winegard PR-7042, and you can get it for less than HALF the price that TERK charges. Admittedly, TERK does provide mounting hardware with this antenna that Winegard does not, but it hardly represents any kind of bargain. This antenna is a a big one, and frankly, it doesn't belong in anyone's attic! If you put it in an attic, bring along a shoehorn, or a chainsaw, because you'll need one or the other to get it in most attics. Since house construction and materials vary so widely, it is unfair to judge the reception quality of any antenna by attic-mounting it. It's almost impossible to aim an antenna this large in an attic, and there are way too many variables to say that poor reception is the fault of the antenna. If you are going to buy one of these antennas, please understand that it needs to be mounted outdoors, up high, and free of close obstructions. This advice is true for any antenna designed for outdoor use. Having said that, how is it's performance? Well, it's OK, but not stellar. It's construction is good, but not as good as the Winegard HD line of antennas, and it's gain and directivity are slightly below the best comparable-sized antennas like a Channel Master Crossfire 3671 or a Winegard HD-7084P. When you combine it's middling performance with it's unconscionably high price, it isn't much of a bargain.

Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: Bville Boy Date: 2008-04-30
Summary: In garage attic 30 miles from downtown and pulls GREAT
I have this antenna combined with a Motorola HD receiver and I get amazing clarity with it. If you're going to put it in an attic, however, make sure to get the dimensions of the antenna and have the room for it because it's a big'n.

Terk TV38 Review #3
Rating: 1 (very poor) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2009-09-28
Summary: Good Antenna; Poor Mounting Hardware
The GOOD:

1) The antenna is 12 feet long.
2) It receives stations from 35 miles away WITH amplifier.
3) The antenna is easy to assemble.

The BAD:
1) The antenna is 12 feet long.
2) It does not receive signals farther than 40 miles.
3) Missing bolts, nuts, and brackets.
4) Poor detailed instructions for antenna assembly.
5) Almost absent instructions for mounting hardware assembly.
6) Chimney mounting hardware is extremely poorly designed
a) Straps do not tighten sufficiently even when using large "channelock" pliers
b) Only comes with 1 bracket per strap causing weak mount
c) Brackets do not grasp mast tight enough (can physically turn antenna)

Conclusion:
The antenna itself is worth approx $100, but my advice would be to purchase quality mounting hardware separately. Unfortunately, I must buy a quality mount and reinstall this antenna to be safe.

(I work as a mechanic and transmission rebuilder and do home remodeling on the side. My theory is that if I can easily move an installed antenna with my bare hands, it will probably loosen during a heavy wind or snow storm. I was extremely disappointed with the poor design and manufacture of the hardware. Save yourself the worry and purchase the hardware from a reputable manufacturer.)
