| I live on a ridgetop, and have great reception, and the Terk TV4 brings in all the channels perfectly! I was getting fair to good digital reception with just a bow-tie UHF antenna, but wanted all the channels, and got 'em with this Terk! After reading some of the other reviews here, it looks like people were trying to use this TV antenna for FM reception, and I don't think this unit is designed for that--no wonder it didn't work very well for them. |

| Bought a WinTV-HVR-1600 PCI tuner card for my XP Media Center PC. First I tried using the included FM antenna that came with the tuner card. It works ok, and allowed me to get about 5-6 stations. Then I bought the Terk TV-4 thinking it would get me a few more stations, and perhaps make the reception on the ones I already had better. It actually has worse reception than the thin little FM antenna that came free with the tuner card. Don't waste your money on this antenna. A coat hanger probably will give you better reception. |

| Actually it may just look interesting so you have something to watch other than the signal this thing seems incapable of picking up:)
My experience mirrors that of one of the above posters where the antenna did worse than no antenna and halved the number of channels I could receive. Sent it back the next day.

| I live 5 miles from all the stations in my area (Phoenix, AZ). The signal strength displayed on my converter box using this antenna is pretty much the same as using rabbit ears, for both upper VHF (channels 7-13) and UHF stations. Although the box claims it works for all VHF stations, I would not expect good reception with this antenna for lower VHF (channels 2-6), due to it only being 25 inches long. Be aware that digital tv uses virtual channel numbers, so if you have a channel 2 through 6 in your area, it may actually be a UHF channel. The primary reason I bought this was to replace rabbit ears, and due to where they were placed, I was afraid of walking into them or getting poked in the eye. This antenna has rounded corners on the two diamond-shaped elements, and they rotate freely around a center post. If rabbit ears don't work for you, this antenna probably won't be any better. One advantage (or in some cases, disadvantage) they do have is the elements are horizontal. Most people set rabbit ears at a 45 degree angle, but they perform best, usually, when perfectly horizontal. In areas where a reflected signal is actually stronger than the direct signal (like if the signal bounces off a large building), the ability of rabbit ears to change the angle of each element would be an advantage over this antenna. In the end, using any indoor antenna is a crapshoot, and none will work perfectly in every location. |
