Summary: power disappears over time
This seemed like a great antenna when we first got it, 14 years ago. It gave up pictures where all the other rabbit ears amplified or not from radio shack gave us nothing. Then it gradually wore out after a couple of years. We went back east for a while and used cable, then we got two new one again of this same type. One upstairs and one downstairs. Gradually they wore out too over several years. We still get pictures with them and nothing if we cut the power to them, but the dials don't do anything anymore turning the amplifiers for UHF and VHF all the way up or down don't do anything anymore, and the picture is the same. When we first got them turning the dials up gave us pretty good pictures and turning them down made it worse. Now, looking forward to getting digital, we are looking for something better. VHF still looks pretty good on the second floor one, but the UHF is really bad. On the first floor one it is pretty bad on both and almost nothing on VHS. Our stations are mostly 44 miles away, with a few 8 miles away. We get most of those 8 mile away ones OK, on some days they are very good.

Rating: 1 (very poor) Nickname: TVjunkie Date: 2007-10-11
Summary: Don't waste your time
This antenna was totally useless. I live in the Boston suburbs and am only 14 miles from the TV antenna farms but this antenna got me 5 of the 27 digital channels for my area. And of the 5 channels that I could receive, 2 were spanish channels to which I have totally no interest. Every channel that I could received seems to require that I fiddle with the UHF loop or else I get unstable reception. I've tried having the amplifier on and off and did not notice any difference either way. This antenna performed far worst than a regular UHF loop that can be had for a dollar. Too bad I can not give this a zero rating for surely that is what this antenna deserves. It baffles me how some folks can give this antenna a glowing review whilest some think it is absolutely garbage. Luckily I was able to return this antenna but unfortunately still researching for a decent indoor antenna.

Rating: 2 (poor) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2007-09-09
Summary: very poor
this is a junk antenna. oddly enough, it has a power input to power up the reception but did not include the adapter. lucikly i have a power adapter lying around that i could use. with the power up, reception is better. but without, it sucks. definitely not worth the the 30 bucks.

RCA ANT1250 Review #3
Rating: 2 (poor) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2006-12-06
Summary: Terrible and not worth owning for HDTV reception
I have had this antenna attached to my analog TV for many years and had fair reception with it. While connected to my analog TV, the antenna works well for VHF channels but rated rather poor for UHF channels. After my trusty analog TV finally conked out, I bought a HDTV as a replacement. I hooked the RCA ANT1250 to the TV and let the TV do a channel search. Te TV could only lock into about two thirds of the available channels (both analog and digital). My house seems to situated in a location that I am having multipath problems causing poor signal quality. So my digital reception would either not come in or would annoyingly pixelate, freeze or drop. I spent countless hours adjusting the antenna to get decent receptions which was at best in the 60(s) out of 100 signal strength. Even a signal strength of 60(s) would give great picture quality since with digital TV, you either receive it or not. Having stated that, the signal quality would fluctuate constantly even when the antenna is left alone. That is, some days it would be in the 60s and the some days it falls into the 20s for channels that I was able to receive. And what bugs me even more is that the VHF channels that I had been able to receive prior on my old TV set comes it extremely poor when mated to my HDTV. If I can't watch it digitally, I at least want to watch it through analog channels. So, if you suffer from multipath problems, this antenna is not a viable antenna. I finally got another indoor antenna that was geared more towards digital reception. I am able to get all the available digital channels. While some channels come in at a signal strength of 50s, most are higher than 70s. Yes I still get slight pixelation on the weaker channels but it doesn't occur as often and seem to occur only during certain times of the day and when weather is poor outside.

RCA ANT1250 Review #4
Rating: 4 (good) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2008-09-05
Summary: Good but not fantastic
I bought this antenna because I got a DTV converter box and my 15 year old rabbit ears weren't picking up a strong enough signal for digital TV. This amplified antenna does pick up a much stronger signal than my old rabbit ears. I like that there are many different adjustments you can make to it in order to fine tune reception (adjust the antenna, adjust the knobs, etc.).

However, this antenna did not come with instructions. Figuring out how to connect it was easy enough but it would have been nice to have some instructions as far as tips for getting the best reception. It took a lot of fiddling around to find the right adjustments. Also, I found out that although this antenna does give me stronger reception than traditional rabbit ears, I still need a stronger antenna (most likely an outdoor antenna) in order to watch digital TV.
