Philips PM-HDTV1 Review #0
Rating: 2 (poor) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2008-05-29
Summary:
I bought the HGTV antenna hoping to be able to get my local channels, but it didn't work. I have satalite and can't get local channels because of a tree in the way on someone elses property. Maybe I was expecting too much.

Philips PM-HDTV1 Review #1
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: SOCAL007 Date: 2007-11-17
Summary: Outstanding Reception for So Little Investment
This antenna gave me two new digital major broadcasting channels (ABC and CBS). Their analog channels are not even viewable, but it receives their digital signals at 40 to 50 % strength. Of course, my new Panasonic Plasma TV which has an excellent tuner helps the matter. Prior to this antenna, I was using Trek TV50 for very good reception for all other channels, but it could not pull in ABC and CBS. In some desperate situations (like wanting to watch football games on CBS), I found a spot above my piano on a music stand to get distorted analog picture with TV50, but not strong enough for digital. It looked ridiculous, but I was thankful for a chance to watch a NFL game. After researching on a new anntenna, I decided to try Philips HDTV1 since it was only $18 on Amazon.com. I just got it yesterday, did various exerimentation with and without TV50 and various locations for the best reception. It took me the entire evening, but found a couple places; no longer on a music stand on top of my piano!!! One location was perfect, as it is out of the way in the corner on an end table. Wow! I could not believe a cheap looking anatenna like this does much better job than the big Trek antenna! I'm totally satisfied! It's low-risk/cost for trying for better reception. If you are looking for regular analog programs, this antenna is not recommended. For that, like others have found out (on their review), regular rabbit-ear one would work better.

Philips PM-HDTV1 Review #2
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2007-06-09
Summary: it just works, better than terk hdtva
what can I say? It looks cheap and is built cheaply, but it works! i got all my HD channels despite poor locations and getting signals deflected from a nearby building (no straight line of sight to the tower). Despite weak signals the quality somehow came in more than 70%. I can't do the same with a more expensive and amplified Terk HDTVa antenna, which managed to only detect two channel's weak signals but never able to pull in enough quality to get pictures. Both antenna were tested with the same hardware and set-up. I don't know what is it about this little antenna, but the way it pulls in signals under the circumstances is nothing less than astonishing.

Philips PM-HDTV1 Review #3
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2007-07-26
Summary: Good Little Antenna
I purchased this antenna for my new lcd hdtv and it works pretty well. I had been using an RCA antenna with the regular rabbit ears and loop. However this one seems to give me a better signal. I did pick up one additional digital signal when using this unit.

Philips PM-HDTV1 Review #4
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: keatonbdb Date: 2007-04-27
Summary: Great UHF Antenna
I tried the terk version of this antenna, which was more than double the cost. It picked up the same channels with lower signal strength. I live in Phoenix with this was able to pick up all channels with greater than 70% signal strength. Which is surprising since I live on the far north side of Phoenix and this antenna is not amplified. I paired this with an amplifier and now I have no problems with all channels.
