Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.

Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2009-01-14
Summary: Surprisingly happy!!
First off – I Do not work for or have anything to do with the sales of this unit. I purchased this unit off eBay and received it yesterday and hooked it up. I now get more OTA channels with this antenna that I have received with any other antenna. I was expecting to be disappointed but I am VERY happy with this unit. I don’t know how well the rotor works because I really don’t need it. I get all the channels that I want. No, the quality on this unit is not the best, but what do you expect for $60. I e-mailed winegard and the antenna the recommended would have cost over $200 and was HUGE. My wife would have hated it. This unit is VERY small and easy to hide. I also find it interesting how most people either are very happy with this unit or are very unhappy. That makes me think it might be a quality issue. Just an observation.

Summary: JUNK!
Bought off Ebay for $60. Can't pick up a signal from the towers which are less than 10 miles away. Actually, I got better reception WITHOUT the antenna...just using the cables wired throughout my house. Rabbit ears are WAY BETTER than this stupid antenna. Almost all plastic - absolute JUNK!

Summary: SummitSource is sells the LAVA A-2605 BUT passes off customer service! It's a POS!
========================================================================= LAVA Electronics Inc. Customer Service, I ordered an A-2605 antenna on 11/22/08 from the SummitSource website. It arrived safely intact on 12/4/08. I assembled and connected it per the instructions, connected it to the digital converter box input which directs its output to my TV. It may have worked (poorly)for all of three (3) minutes before the light on the antenna control box went out, along with any rotation, signal amplification, and/or reception of all over-the-air signals by the antenna. I called SummitSource about the problem and received the email response seen below. I have provided my phone number and email address. Please resolve this situation with what is most likely a defective antenna. Thank you, P.S. See accompanying email from SummitSource ========================================================================= Tom, Sorry but we aren't handling matters with the 2605 antenna. Lava has directed us to have all matters regarding the item passed on to them at 1-909-923-8743 or www.lavasat.com Thanks, Summit Source Team 4203 Merchant Rd. Lava 2605 Review #3
Rating: 2 (poor) Nickname: John Date: 2008-12-09
Summary: Extremely disappointed--disagree with positive reviews
I purchased this antenna largely based on the previous positive reviews. However, I have been extremely disappointed. First, the plastic on the unit was cracked upon arrival. Second, the unit had trouble picking up my local digital (or analog) PBS station broadcast only 4 miles from my house; whereas, an old set of rabbit ears had no problem picking up the station on digital. Forget about any of the other local stations that are 20-25 miles away. The aluminum is very flimsy and prone to bending, and the red 'cap' didn't fit on the end of the unit. As far as I am concerned, this product is useless. I am going to purchase a traditional antenna. In my opinion this product is poorly made, not worth the price, looks impressive in the on-line photo (but dopey in person), and is not much better than traditional rabbit ears.

Lava 2605 Review #4
Rating: 4 (good) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2008-12-03
Summary: Follow up review
I previously gave this antenna a 5 but since then I have decided to downgrade to a 4 for some very specific reasons. The cause of the changes are all related to the rotor and general build quality. I like the antenna, its looks and its ability to get great signals at a great price and it has put up with rain winds and ice without an issue. The big issue I have is this. First the receiver for the rotor seems to interpret multiple pushes of the down button on Samsung HDTV recievers as a counter clockwise rotate and for no appearent reason the signal will go away just to find that the antenna outside is pointed in the wrong direction. Second the rotor is just an electric motor and it has not sort of lock to prevent rotation when no electric is applied. This means that if there is strong wind the antenna CAN rotate even though no electric is applied ot the motor. There needs to be more resistance in the motor to unpowered movement. I notice the back of the antenna has a slide slot with a screw hole so it looks like it is designed to accept a different mounting bracket other than the one provided. Providing this alternative bracket would make it possible to mount to a far superior rotor or mount stationary in one direction. Finally please find a way to secure the red end cap. I have found it in my yard twice so far in a month and have stuck it back in, I think I will use a dab of hot glue to secure it soon. Other than that I get every channel at at least 60% signal strength and more likely 80-90 and that is at 60+ miles away 7 feet off the ground. I have neighbors intered in picking one up because they liek the looks and are impressed with the signal quality since they have had VERY bad luck with other antennas. If you are close to the towers this not a good antenna for you. I think the power amplifier overdrives powerful signals and will make the situation worse for you, of course that is alwasy a potential problem. I don't think the antenna can be used without power as I get 0 signal if I turn off the power, not even analog.
