| Summary: Watch out for the UHF only | ||
| Our local PBS station just switched their 3 digital channels to VHF with and others are scheduled to follow..... The Lacrosse has worked well, for 3 years but will not pick up those channels switching to VHF for digital broadcasting. According to the PBS help person most of the local channels will also be making the switch to VHF... | ||

| Summary: Works up to 30 miles. | ||
| Works good on higher uhf channels if you're within about 30 miles of the broadcast tower. Has a hard time with the lower vhf channels. The higher you place the antenna the better. | ||

| Summary: Happy with the outcome | ||
| I bought the Lacrosse HDTV antenna and was happy with it. I have to compare it with the Phillip's HDtv antenna wich is about the same reception minus two channels... But for the price i would probably stick with the Phillip's antenna.. I could not return the Lacrosse antenna because i already altered (drilled some holes to fit the direct tv base) for the Lacrosse.. Over all i am happy with the Lacrosse antenna.. I had my Phillip's multi directional antenna up in the attic and i had great reception up there so if you want a cheaper product that is about the same outcome then i would buy the Phillips multi directional antenna at Walmart.. | ||

| Summary: HD ANTENNA | ||
| It works great. Maybe over-kill on SIZE and Money. I tried a $50 ,shoe box size unit that worked as well,from Home Depot. This was a fair weather comparison, and I have a clear line of sight to broadcast antenna. As I said it works great in all weather and it is big. | ||

| Summary: Worth the Money | ||
| Simple setup, even the mounting process is easy. I unpackaged it, set it on the floor and picked up 20+ digital channels on my first scan using the TV's built in tuner (yes, the tuner matters). Once mounted on my roof I picked up broadcast stations about 55 miles away, with over 30 total channels received (some duplicate).
I live on the fringe of the 40 mile 'limit' of this antenna, about 38.5 miles from the HDTV broadcast towers. I bought an indoor TV Tuner device that used its body as a antenna and received zero channels. The only possible advantage is that I live at altitude, about 1000' higher than the nearest city with a pretty good line of sight (35+ miles) to the HD broadcast towers. I used common RG-6 cable I had laying around and have no regrets about the HD signal quality, it is noticeably better than my satellite provider's HD signal on a 720p TV. Easy to mount. Mounted to my roof with J-mount hardware and some extra lag bolts to secure it against strong winds. Second night we had 40+mph sustained winds and it was fine. Ran the direct line to a 4 way splitter and dropped some channels. Despite the internal amplifier, I plan to add a powered signal booster to see if I can recover those channels (and maybe pick up more). |
