Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.

Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

Summary: Excellent antenna for the price
I live in Cypress, Texas (77429) - Home is located near the intersection of Barker Cypress and Jarvis off HWY 290. I\ve been looking for an antenna to supplement my cable service. After seeing the AntennasDirect DB4 being used in a store near me, I decided to try it. Paid under $60 for mine. I had my house prewired for an antenna in addition to the builder installed \cable\. The antenna run to my second story attic is probably around 100 feet long. Installed the antenna in the attic away from the AC/heater/water heater. I am NOT using an inline amplifer. The TV I am using to receive the signal is made by Samsung (LCD TV) with a built in HD tuner. Using the \online\ locators, I am between 28 and 30 miles from the transmitters. The terrain in the area is flat and level. I also used a compass to point my antenna towards the transmitters. In short, the reception is EXCELLENT - even being installed INSIDE the attic. I can receive ALL the stations in the \yellow\ range as well as one station in the \green\ range and one in the \violet\ range (KBTX from Waco). When I check the signal strength using the TV, I get a very strong signal with all but two of the stations (which were in the middle range). In all, I receive 13 HD channels and 32 standard def channels. Not bad for an antenna under $60. The HD stations are crisp and clear - ZERO complaints. I would highly recommend this antenna if your conditions are similar to mine. It works.

Summary: Great antenna for low price
I live situated between Milwaukee and Madison, 37 and 46 miles away respectively. Installed the DB4 in the attic along with a 25dB booster that I\ve had for years. I spent quite a bit of time up in the attic tweaking the position towards Milwaukee and was able to pick up every Milwaukee station at about 80-90% signal strength. But I was even happier to see is was receiving the Madison stations even though the antenna was nowhere close to pointing in that direction. Even though the DB4 is not specifically designed for in-attic installations, it\s working great for me. I think the booster is the key. Without it I get only a fraction of the channels at a significantly reduced signal strength. My advise for folks in rural areas, use a booster and spend time to adjust the direction and vertical angle of this antenna to get maximum reception. I paid $50 for the DB4 through Amazon. Worth every penny. That\s less than most people spend per month on cable or dish.

AntennasDirect DB4 Review #2
Rating: 4 (good) Nickname: Puget Viewer Date: 2009-06-15
Summary: Wider beam width but less gain than 42XG
I purchased and evaluated both the DB-4 and the 42XG to replace my old antenna. I submitted a more detailed review under the 42XG. The upshot is that the DB-4 has a wider beam width, yet sacrifices some gain with respect to the 42XG, especially at the lower frequencies. DB-4 is compact and is an easy fit inside of an attic. The mast mount does not allow for any up angle adjustment. I gave it a 4 due to manufacturing quality. I settled on the DB-4 only because I needed the extra beam width, otherwise I feel that the 42XG is the better antenna.

Summary: Replaced Radio Shack 15-2187 - very happy
I was using the radio shack 15-2187 mounted in the attic with fairly poor results, only half the HD/UHF stations. I mounted the DB4 on the same mast that came with the 15-2187 and also reused the 10db amp that came with the Radio Shack antenna. The DB4 picks up all the local HD stations with only rare drop outs.
