| Summary: Terrestrial Direct 43XG - reception is excellent from DC | ||
| After due research, I picked this model because of modest size, high gain, and reasonable price. It is mounted in a carport because of local aesthetic restrictions and points through trees. Yet reception is excellent from DC [10 miles] and very good from Baltimore [30 miles]. | ||

| Summary: Attic antenna (outstanding) | ||
| I obtain excellent HD signal with the use of this antenna. All stations I target are within a 3 degree arc, but one of them is 15 degrees off. ALL stations come in with outstanding signal (one at 70, the rest at 97+) and I am at a 25 mile distance with an ATTIC installation. Excellent product! | ||

| Summary: Long and heavy, great signal | ||
| I've tried two outdoor antennas and and this one was better for signal strength. I get a good signal for all the major Seattle area stations, at a distance ranging 11-34mi, with hills and trees. Most stations are within 16degrees, but one station comes in fine at 90degrees. I give this antenna a "5" because all I care about is signal strength. The installation is not as simple as an omni directional reflector type. The factory mounting has this antenna sticking out from the mast its entire length of 4ft like an upside down "L", which puts quite a strain on the mast and puts the antenna at risk from wind. Because of the stormy weather we get here in the Pacific Northwest, I discarded the factory mount (saving a few pounds) and instead drilled a hole in the boom, relieving the strain and balancing the sail area. The boom sits on the mast like a "T". I used ropes to keep the antenna from rotating. | ||

| Summary: An excellent yagi-style UHF antenna for suburban to fringe areas | ||
| The 43XG is a compact and very powerful outdoor UHF antenna intended to be used in areas from 25-55 miles from the TV transmitters. It is very rugged and lightweight, and has the ability to tilt the entire antenna assembly as much as 30 degrees from the horizontal axis, which is useful for optimizing reception in weak signal areas. This antenna must be assembled on-site: assembly is fairly easy, takes about 10 minutes, and requires no tools. The 43XG is very directional, which makes it useful in minimizing multipath (ghosting), and it is compact. It can be used in an attic if that is necessary, but outdoor mounting is always preferred. The 43XG will require a rotator if reception from more than one area is required. A preamplifier is also suggested in weak signal areas (45+ miles from the transmitters) | ||
