Lately we have been dealing with an increasing number of attempts to manipulate antennas ranking. Note: each person is allowed to post one and only one review for each antenna model. Exceptions can be made only under special circumstances when the reviewer feels that his earlier review must be corrected.

We have a sophisticated manipulation detection system in place and we will not tolerate any attempt to game the system and mislead consumers and our visitors. We reserve the right to delete any review that we feel is misleading or inappropriate and do that at our sole discretion. Thanks for understanding.

Also, from now on we require all reviews to be at least 100 words long. Short reviews, such as "a piece of junk" or "works as advertised" are not very helpful. Consider specifying more details. Elaborate on your location, the equipment you are using, reception quality of specific channels in your area. Check the word counter at the bottom when writing.

Summary: Shocked!
I bought this antenna based on the reviews and the CEA color charts from antennaweb.org, and I have to say wow! I installed it in the attic, and on the first scan I picked up 71 virtual channels all of them clear! No ghosting, or pixelating, or anything like that. The channels broadcasted in HD look amazing! My house is located 37 miles away from the large group of towers that broadcast most of our channels. I am very satisfied, especially since I\m not paying for cable any more!! I used the antenna out of the box, no pre-amp. I run it through one -2db splitter in the attic then straight to the TVs. I did notice that if I added a second splitter into the mix I only receive about half the channels, so be careful on your gain.

AntennaCraft HBU22 Review #2
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2010-08-19
Summary: Wow, what an antenna!
I bought this antenna to get off cable tv. Paying for TV was getting old, especially since there was nothing on ALL THE TIME. The only thing I wanted was the local stations to keep up with local news/weather/sports. Everything else I could get from watching off the internet.

I installed this antenna, keeping in mind that I live 50 mi. from the local stations. My hopes weren't very high in catching all of them. Boy, was I wrong! Not only could I pick up the local stations, but I could also pull in stations from cities that were not expected. One city is 100 miles away (which I could pick up all of it's stations), another city was 140 miles away (where I could get 2 channels) and the other....which is unbelievable...was over 170 miles away. Sounds far fetched, doesn't it? But, seeing is believing. I can't believe the digital signal could travel that far without breaking up....but it does with this antenna. I have never been able to pick up stations from these far-away stations before...ever. But here they were with the hbu22 antenna. Now, granted, some of the stations are breaking up and not staying tuned in 100% of the time. But, you can't argue about the antenna's ability to latch onto these distant signals and draw them in strong enough to display on my TV.

Now, I've become a bit greedy and am buying a preamplifier to hold onto these distant signals so I can add to my channel list. No doubt this antenna is a great buy and great quality. I'm shudder to think what it's bigger brothers (hbu33, hbu44, hbu55) can do. But, I'm happy enough with the performance out of the smallest of Antennacraft's model line. For being this far out rural from stations, this little antenna does it's job...and then some.

AntennaCraft HBU22 Review #3
Rating: 5 (excellent) Nickname: anonymous Date: 2010-06-24
Summary: Great for VHF and UHF
I had a Clearstream 1 Antenna, but when I quit using a converter box (which apparently boosted the signal) I could no longer pick up a local station on VHF. I got this AntennaCraft HBU22, which was cheap, easy to put up, and works much better. I pick up many additional stations now.
The only word of warning is to realize that the antenna does not come with a mast (which I think is fairly normal). You'll need some sort of mast on your roof to attach yours to. I was able to use the mast from an old Dish, which is a bit short, but it still works fine.
