Winegard HD769x VHF-Hi/UHF Antennas

Postby tlp95129 on Sat Aug 09, 2008 6:46 pm

Does anyone have any experience with the Winegard HD 769x series of antennas (7694 - 7698), They are intended for VHF-Hi and UHF, and sacrifice VHF-Lo (ch 2-6), since these won't be used with digital TV in most areas. By not having to deal with the VHF-Lo channels, the elements can be quite a bit smaller, resulting in a narrower antenna. I'm considering this antenna for use in Cupertino, CA which is about 35-38 miles from the San Francisco transmitters.

Anyone have any good or bad results to report on these antennas?

Their performance should be comparable to the HD708XX antennas minus the low-band performance: at the distance that you are from the Mt. Sutro tower, they will probably work fine, but most people in the Bay Area, the Channel Master 4228 is more than adaquate and quite a bit cheaper. Your NBC station will come in fine with a 4228 even though it is on a VHF frequency.
