Winegard 7697p not working, did I get too much antenna?

I recently purchased a WInegard 7697P to replace an older antenna of similar size.
It is on the roof of a 2 story house with a rotor. I have maybe 25 foot cable run to the TV
After installing the new antenna and rescanning I received about a third less channels than old antenna.
I now wonder if I got too much antenna as most of my channels are in the 20 mile range.
Would a smaller version in the 769 series have been a better choice?
