Winegard YA 1713=Winegard YA-6713?

Postby gibson67 on Sun Mar 14, 2010 6:56 pm

Just wanted to know which one is better. I am about 82 miles from the Empire state building in upstate NY. TV fool says I can get everything with a rooftop antenna. (12420) Going to go with a 91XG for the UHF. Don't know what I should do about VHF. I am also looking for the best rotator, splitter, and wires I can get. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. (Including for the UHF...the 91xg is just a shot in the dark.)

Thanks

You are on the right track: I would need your exact TVFool.com report for your location to know for sure, but my choice would be a Winegard YA-1713 or an AntennaCraft Y-10-7-13 for VHF. I would combine the two antennas using a Channel Master Titan 7777 preamplifier, which has separate VHF and UHF inputs

Altitude will be your friend in this situation, so the higher you go, the better.

Tiger,

I got all NYC stations coming in clear. A couple of questions though...I lost 2 local stations WRNN and wtyb about 25 miles away. And also would I be better with the Antennacraft 10G212 preamp. It seems more powerful. Thanks for all the help so far.

The preamplifier is very unlikely to be your issue, Unless you have a rotator on your antenna system, you'll be unlikely to see WRNN or other local stations that don't lie in the same direction as the NYC stations.
