Which Attenna is best for Apartment Complex

Postby aperry4751 on Wed Jan 06, 2010 2:49 pm

Hello,

Live in the San Francisco, Cailf Bay Area 94520. Two VHF stations and seven UHF stations all within a 30 mile radius.
I'm on the third floor and have a small balcony. Lots of Tall trees and some tall buildings in the area. Many hills and one large mopuntain.
Two TV's in house.
I need a few suggestions on attennas. Indoor or outdoor ? If outdoor I have to install it on the railing and it could not be an eyesoar or stand out.
I would have to remove it when I move.
I want the top of the line HDTV attenna any sugestions would be apperciated.

Yours is a difficult reception situations because you are blocked from direct reception of the San Francisco transmiters by a mountain: actually, the Sacrement stations are likely to be an easier choice than SF when looking for TV reception. You are likely to need a large VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna mounted on your roof along with a rotator and a preamplifier to ger proper TV reception in your zip code. I would first consult your landlord and secure the rights to install an antenna on the roof before proceeding. You have the right to install an antenna on your roof if you rent and exclusive use to the roof, but you may find that the investment of several hundred dollars may or may not be worth your trouble.

if you elect to install an antenna, you will need a deepfringe antenna for both UHF and VHF: you can use a combination antenna like a Winegard HD-7698P or an AntennaCraft HBU-55, or consider using a separate VHF yagi like a Winegard YA-1713 plus an AntennasDirect XG-91, a combination that is more powerful than the combination antenna.

Providing a street address may yield slightly different results than using the generic zip code for your area.
