What kind of antenna for manhattan?

Postby kelmanhattan on Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:38 pm

We just bought a 40" samsung LCD HDTV and would like to purchase an antenna. We live on the ground floor and have most the stations we would like to get on our tv within 3 miles (ABC, CBS, FOX). We have a place outside we could place an outdoor antenna but it would have to be placed on the ground. There is that option or an indoor antenna. Our tv is set up near the window as well so could we get an outdoor antenna and put it next to the window? What is your advice on which antenna to purchase? Thank you very much! :)

When you are dealing with a city like NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, or any city with a lot of skyscrapers, any kind of an indoor TV antenna is a crapshoot: it might work, but indoor antennas often don't work. The best indoor antenna and the worst indoor antenna aren't separated by much...I have had some luck with the Terk HDTVa, but would never promise satisfaction without knowing nore about your situation.

What would you suggest instead of the indoor antenna? What more information would you need? Thank you!

If you can get an antenna on the roof of your building, you will probably see decent reception
