I want everything!! Cleveland, OH.,please help

Postby 300HURST on Tue Feb 10, 2009 6:37 pm

Cleveland, Ohio - (44070 -westsuburb 2 miles from lake erie, some trees, no high buildings for 5 miles) Cleveland only has 3 VHF channels, about 5 more are UHF (all within 10miles) most come in great with just rabbit ears but I want more....
With a normal antenna which I have now, RCA-ANT3020X, I can get about 3 Akron stations and about 3 Canton stations (35 miles) but I want more..more ..MORE!.
Sometimes at 2AM, I barely get 2 Toledo, 2 Detroit and 1 Windsor Canada analog stations. (all approx 80 miles from Cleveland by air). I looked at Wikipedia and found out these locations total about 15 more stations and I want them all!!!
I was thinking of buying the biggest UHF attenna I could afford? Will this mess up the Cleveland stations within 10 miles? Will I have too worry about lightning strikes. (I have one of the oldest maple tree in my city). Amping my existing antenna won't work over 50 miles, will it?
I have Dish TV, but I'm not going to pay those bastards an extra $5/mo for 5 local stations, esp when I could get almost 30 channels in HD for free

Please help...thanks!

Most of the stations that you have listed that are out of town will be available to you only during certain times: not 24/7. If you want me to design an antenna stsyem to help you root-out those channels, I will do so, but don't be disappointed if you don't see Detroit, Toledo and London, ON all the time. If you haven't made the switch to digital, do it NOW! Don't wait.

Thaks for the quick reply and for the help. I've been busy trying certain things with no luck, ...but still trying.

I'm at 44103 and I want everything, too. I have a fancy rabbit ear thing and a digital converter. My favorite station is WVIZ PBS on channel 25. I get it fine as analog with the rabbit ears. When I use the digital converter--nothing.

I am so glad the switchover to all HD was delayed.

My first move is to hook up with the rooftop antenna on the house next door. It is abandoned and boarded up. I bought 50' of Coax on EBAY. When it arrives and I get a break in the weather, I will try running the wire and see what happens.
