VHF digital reception

I live in a housing assn. that bans roof top antennas. I have a medium sized vhf/uhf antenna in my attic under a tile roof plus a satelite dish. Since the conversion to digital programing I cannot receive well (clear picture but frequent breaks in picture and sound) a vhf CBS station approx. 35 miles away toward which the antenna is directly aimed. I get 6 uhf stations and a nearby vhf station very well, but miss my favorites on CBS. I live near Ft Myers, FL in zip 34134 and have a 2 tuner flat screen and a tube type with converter. All surrounding structures are single story. Is there an alternate to paying the satelite co. a monthly fee for one local station?
