I am searching for info re: grounding of roof mounting equipment and coax. Tigerbangs references the Channelmaster installation guide, but I suspect that it is obsolete in this regard. My recent NEC book states that the house grounding system must be used rather than a separate ground rod, and that the size of the grounding conductor be #8 or 10 alum/copper, and that the transmission cable grounding conductor be at least #12. What gives? And if this is the case, what use is the #17 grounding conductor that comes with some of the coax you see out there? And ground runs must be continuous with no splices. This is getting really confusing. Do I have to run a #10 THHN from the tripod directly to the nearest part of the grounding electrode system, and then run a #12 from the grounding block at the point of entry to the house also to the grounding electrode system and use just the plain old RG-6? Help!
