uhf vhf and preamp question

Postby a.lee.hagen on Tue Mar 22, 2011 3:19 pm

I put up a DB8 antenna last fall with a preamp from Winegard AP-8700 preamp (http://www.amazon.com/Winegard-AP-8700- ... 068&sr=8-1). I have realized that I am not getting a few VHF channels and would like to use the old existing mast antenna on my garage and hook it to the preamp.

The preamp has one antenna input... is it possible to use a splitter and place both inputs from both antennas into the one input on the preamp so I can get both spectrums of the TV reception?

Thanks for the help with my first post!

Use a UVSJ (UHF/VHF diplexer) to combine the two antennas, then feed the combined signal into the pre-amp. Do NOT use a common splitter.

Why can't I use a normal splitter?

For the same reason you don't use your knife, fork, and spoon to work on your car.

Use the correct tool for the job.
