No UHF

Postby bobrusnak on Fri Oct 30, 2009 1:36 pm

I live about 20 mi. west of the Cleveland, OH tv towers (zip 44035). I installed a Terk HDTVo on my roof (about 25' hi). Coax length about 50' w/ the supplied signal booster. I can get the two VHF channels just fine, but cannot receive any UHF channels.

I'll bet that your TV set is set up incorrectly: Do you have a digital TV tuner installed in the TV, or are you using a converter? If your set has a disital tuner, you need to go into the menu on the TV set, change the setting from CABLE to ANTENNA or AIR, and have the tuner rescan for channels.

I have a 42" LCD Sony Bravia HDTV. I did re-scam after I got a compass and tweaked the direction. Still cannot receive the UHF.
I can receive a Toledo station (the opposite direction of where the antenna is aimed).
I'm not sure if I understand your answer, since I had to scan to get the VHF stations.

Go into the menu on your TV: there will be a choice of " Antenna/Air" or "Cable" The TV comes from the factory defaulted to "Cable", which will not allow the TV to see UHF stations: when you change the setting to "Antenna/Air", the TV will then tune the OTA UHF channels. Cable TV channels above channel 13 and OTA UHF channels above channel 13 are different frequencies.
