HD Tuner types

I am thinking about purchasing a new tv and think i've finally settled on the best HDTV for me... It has a ATSC / QAM Tuners... What do these different types of tuners mean? Will these just let me get OTA HD? Are there any other tuners I should make sure my new TV has?

I am a layman in all of this, and you probably have found this out by now, but the QAM tuner allows you to receive digital programming from your cable provider, and the ATSC tuner allows you to receive digital programming over-the-air (antenna). As I mentioned in another post, the QAM tuner worked for me, but I was paying for digital cable, and as I also mentioned I assume that would be the case, so it would only save you having to pay for a cable box. However, if you want all of the HD programming, or you want DVR then you probably need the box anyway.
