I am happy to see you here, tigerbangs :-) How is it going on highdefforum? Not tough enough to keep you busy ? :)

HiDefforum.com is still busy, but the nature of the questions seems pretty repetitious: think that you have a different audience here, so I hope I can be of some help.

When you do ask about what antenna choice you should make, it would be most helpful if your posters provide the following information in order to make valid suggestions"

State WHERE you are ( zip code would be most helpful )

State HOW MANY television sets you plan to run from the antenna system

State whether you are looking for ANALOG or DiGITAL stations ( remember, after Feb 17, 2009, there won't BE any analog except for low-power translator stations)

It's also very helpful to tell us what kind of TV set you are using if you have a digital TV, since they all program digital reception differently.

Happy viewing!

tigerbangs,

you are right, it would be even better if members post an a antennaweb or tvfool screenshot.
If you post the list of info you need in the "antenna talk" forum, I'll make it a sticky.

Thank you!

Honestly, posting TVfool results or antennaweb results takes up too much space. Zip codes will usually suffice unless the area in question is unusually hilly or if there are other mitigating factors.

I just joined the forum August 14. I have 30 years experience installing antennas and have become a pretty good expert on DTV facts and situtations. I ran into some young-gun recently who trashed antennas as being old-fashioned and said he would nevere put up an antenna. Too bad. His loss. Antennas may be old, but they are having a resurgence now with DTV. They continue serving their original purpose, to allow free OTA reception of local broadcast signals. Anyone who avoids antennas will miss the wonderful multi-casting channesl most broadcasters (especially public stations) transmit (unless you pay for digital cable). Satellite will probably never carry the multi-cast channels, and cable userrs have to pay for the digital tier to get them. So bravo for antennas.
