Tigerbangs...have you ever heard of Troika?

Postby Jugador on Sun Nov 08, 2009 8:32 pm

My friend got this Troika (model ant83) outdoor antenna at an auction the other night. He had a Terk amplified outdoor, but wasn't really happy with it, plus the Troika rotated 360 deg with a remote control, so he got it.

Anyway, the Troika blew away the Terk (picked up 12 more stations), plus has the rotation if he needs to fine tune. We tried to find some info about it on the web, but couldn't find diddly. Thought I'd ask if you know anything
about them. Thanks

If you mean eBay auction, be aware that there are tons of Chinese-made TV antenna on eBay, and most of them are toys. Many are the same antenna marketed by different American companies. If you are talking about the general rotating model that looks something like a UHF antenna, then I have no first-hand experience with them, but HAVE heard from other people that the rotator on those antenna fails in a very short period of time.

Thanks for the reply...I guess if you haven't heard of them, it's just gonna have to stay a mystery! :D

It wasn't an Ebay auction, just a small town auction held every other Saturday night. Yes, it's made in China. Hope the motor lasts, but it doesn't appear it will have to be used much. The antenna picks up everything pointing in one direction unless there's bad weather out. He said the Terk had to be adjusted to get some channels, even on a clear day. Plus, as I said earlier, it picks up about 12 extra stations. (about 45 miles from the towers) Oh well...he's happy, and hopefully it will last awhile.

Here's a picture I took of the box...talk to you later.
