I'm located in Windsor Ontario (3 or 4 miles due south of zip 48215 specifically) and am thinking of reworking the antique antenna that I have on the roof right now (some of the arms on the antenna have broken off over time). I have a few thoughts on what I need, before I run out to buy anything I'd like to see if I'm on the right track. I want to be set up for post transition. According to Antenna web, everything will be on channel 7 or higher.
My antenna height will be approx. 25ft. I'm thinking of going with a Channel Master 4221, running it to a preamp (probably a CM 7777 - whats the difference between it and the Spartan?) then into the house to a 4 way split to the individual rooms. Is there a chance with the preamp that I will over power my receivers? I'll be using a Panasonic HDtv with built in tuner, and set top boxes for the other TV's. My longest cable run will be about 70ft from the split, the shortest will be about 10ft and I'll have about 25ft of cable from the preamp to the spliter.
I'm also thinking about installing either a second antenna or going with a rotor. It would be a little cheaper to put up a second Antenna than the rotor. I was thinking I point the one antenna at approx. 300 degrees to get the Detroit stations and the other at around 200 degrees to get the Toledo stations. Or should I just spend a little more on the rotor. I've attached the TVfool.com radar map
Thanks
Tim
