In The Hills...

Postby Stingray_36 on Tue Mar 08, 2011 7:02 am

Hi Tigerbang:

I am a newbee to all of this, skilled in the trades but this antenna selection process is all new to me. I have done much research which is fine but but everything I read lacks expert advice. My situation is such; I live rural, on a bluff in the foot hills of the Allegheny mountains in a wooded area approx 20-25 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. I live within 2 miles of the town center of New Stanton PA 15672. I am at approx 1200' elevation. My geoselector info is as follows; http://www.hdtvantennalabs.com/location ... chuirch+rd
I want to prevent buying a bundle that may not perform, buying items I do not need or are incompatible.....etc I do not have the knowledge required to identify all of the components and sequencing of for install to have a successful result. Of course in my mind, the greater the range and gain an antenna has the better and the more stations you will be able to pull in, if this is true I do not know. I would be more interested in getting fewer channels that are quality than a bunch that are poor or mediocre. My plan was to install an HDTV and a AM/FM radio antenna as high as possible on the same pole/mast, I do not know if I can break the tree line, but 40' I think would be manageable, given the resources I have to erect a pole and work at that height etc. Do you have suggestions regarding a radio antenna as well? I look forward to your thoughts and advice!

Thanks,
Hippy

Hi Tigerbangs:

Here is my tvfool info... I am not sure how accurate it is regarding elevation, as I mentioned in my earlier post, the cabin sits at 1200' elev however the road I live off of and drive way entry is approx 1040' elevation.

The entire plan consists of errecting a HDTV antenna, radio antenna, and a wireless internet antenna all on the same 40' mast.

Thank you,
Hippy
