Duh, why didn't I think of that. Ok, used the signal strength meter on the converter, unplugged the power from the amp and no change. Then I disconnected the antenna lead from the amp and no change, still got those 8 god and 24 hr ad stations which originate about thirty miles from here, but about 10 degrees on the compass. Didn't change the direction of the antenna, still at 166 degrees.
So now its just the lead from the amp to the converter to the TV with the 8 chan.
Taking the amp out completely, and just holding, no connector, just touching the two ends, antenna in to the lead to the converter and bridging the center wire, I got the same clear reception on those 8 channels.
My conclusion, amp is not doing anything. Does that sound right?
If the amp is bad, any idea what my chances of getting an exchange are. Bought it the end of June from Stark Electronics. Of course it didn't get installed till end July.
