I'm trying to decide whether or not to switch back to OTA broadcast TV or not. While researching the web I went to antennaweb.org they show that I can only receive two stations. 1 uhf station (PBS) from Sneedville, TN., it was color code yellow (13 miles) which means I can pick it up with an indoor antenna, the other was a VHF station (NBC) in Bristol, VA., and was color code violet (45 miles)
When I went to antennapoint.com. they show 8 stations in my area within 45 miles of my location. to further complicate things when I went to TVfools.com and typed in my gps coordinates and distance above the ground that my antenna would be located They show more. please see this link http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapp ... 15538757b2
How do I find out if I am limited to just the 2 stations or if I am able to get more with the right equipment.
My area code is 37857 GPS coord. Lat. 36.40674 Lon. -83.05346. my antenna will be 18 to 20 ft above ground. My terrain is moderately mountainous with trees and a hill directly behind my house (North) To my West, South, and East it is fairly open for 300 feet or more and do get fairly good cell phone reception ( about 3 to 4 bars).
I guess my question is: Is the equipment that can over come these obstacles and if so what?
My TV in the living room is a Sharp LC-42D64U and has a southern exposure and is right next to the outside wall where my outside antenna will go.
My TV in the bed room is closest to the north end and is a Samsung TXK2066 CRT which I assume will need a converter box.
I welcome any and all advice. Thanks!
