Here's an example of something that's hard to find definitive advice on: I wanted to get a 22-26 inch LCD TV. Consumer Reports only rates larger ones. The enthusiast magazines are in the same boat.

The one I bought had mostly 5 star reviews on Amazon, with a few 4s and none that were 1-3 stars, while other TVs in the category were sort of mixed.

I also consider how well an Amazon reviewer writes. I figure an articulate, polished paragraph reflects some education and refinement. (So call me elitist!)
