Seattle, WA need to watch KCPQ

Postby lukealden on Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:18 pm

Cable is WAY too much every month. I want to get rid of the bill as most my shows are on the net in various places. The ONLY thing that would be tough to get is my Seattle Seahawks games on sundays. Channels 5,7 & 13 have every sports even that i really need. What is the best antenna to get? keep in mind i'm on the north side of my apartment building, with only a small window area on the south side. zip code 98275

it is wooded to the north of my apartment but fairly open to the southwest, which if i'm reading the results properly is the direction channel 13 is.

samsung lcd 1080P. i believe it can process digital signals. it is 2 years old.

You are going to need an antenna that can see out of the south side of your building. KCPQ transmits on channel 13, but it's signal is also relayed by a transmitter on UHF in downtown Seattle, so you will be able to see FOX with just a UHF antenna. The major Sea-Tac stations operate on UHF channels, even though they identify themselves by their old VHF channel assignments. I would suggest an antenna like an AntennasDirect Clearstream 2 mounted in the window of the south-facing room of your apartment. You may have to deal with the cabling running down a hallway, but you should be able to see the Sea-Tac stations if you use such an antenna. Once you attach the antenna, you will need to connect it to your TV set, then go into the menu of the TV set and have the TV tuner scan for channels: the major stations should pop-in without much trouble. Good luck.
