rooftop zipcode 33030

Postby GITTA7 on Sun May 03, 2009 10:59 am

looking to cut bills and get rid of directv. will run one coverterbox in a bedroom (standard tv) and likely a hdtv tuner card in a pc so i can watch hdtv and record shows in the living room. what is my best antenna choice. thanks in advance allen.

ps. i looked at antennaweb.org and it looks like all i need to worry about is a uhf antenna. is that correct?

You'll do just fine with a Winegard HD-7696P aimed northeast at the Miami transmitters: you should have enough signal strength that you should be ablem to use a 2-way splitter without compromising your signal when using that antenna.

It's not any better built than the HD-7696P, is much more susceptible wind blow-over because of it's greater mass, and has capability that you just don't need: don't waste your money on the HD-8200u: it won't do anything for you that the HD-7696p won't do...

just one more question. i had emailed winegard directly about thier suggestion of an antenna at the same time as i posted this originally. i got an email from them today recommending:

Based on your information we recommend a GS-2200 antenna for
GS-2200: http://www.winegarddirect.com/p/?p=ANWGS2200

i like the idea of this one as it is small and manageable enough for me to take down before a hurricane. what do you think of this one?

It's inadaquate for your needs, especially on VHF, where you will have at least 2 important stations after June 12: Stick to my suggestion!
