Right antenna?

Postby Hawkeye on Thu Oct 16, 2008 11:03 pm

I am moving into a new home in Northwest Iowa 51023. I have a RCA projection tv not HD ready. I am looking at a Samsung DTBH260F terrestrial receiver. I will need to use this antenna for multiple tvs. I do not own a tv that is hd ready. Due to my distance from stations I am looking at Terrestrial Digital DB8 multi directional HDTV Antenna I was also looking at the Terrestrial Digital PA-18 UHF/VHF Antenna Pre Amp kit. Does this antenna choice and system match what I need or is their a better choice?

You have strong stations coming from two different cities, and in different directions. You don't really need the gain that the DB-8 offers, and, because of it's high-profile to the wind, you may be better off with a yagi-type antenna. Since one of your FOX stations operates on channel 7 VHF, and KCAU-DT will change to channel 9 after February 17, 2009, I would look for a small VHF-HI-UHF yagi antenna like a Winegard HD7694P, which is compact and plenty powerful, and also use a rotator like a Channel Master 9521a, so you can turn the antenna between the two different cities so you can get more channels.
