Hi. Newbie that could use some advice. 2-story house with large trees around house in Charlotte, NC area. TVfool.com link above. I was looking at the Winegard HD7696P, non-amplified, mounted on my roof/chimney based on reviews and HDTVantennalabs.com info. I would appreciate any advice and recommendations. Thanks!

Charlotte's transmitters are scattered between 2 different antenna farms: one at roughly 15 degrees north of you, and the other at roughly 315 degrees, or northwest of you. if you want to connect multiple TV sets to the antenna system without a rotator, I would suggest using a 2-antenna system. PBS in your area is VHF: the rest of the stations are UHF, so I would get a UHF antenna with a wide pick-up pattern like a Winegard HD-4400 aimed in between the two antenna locations, approx. 340 degrees by your compass, and use a small VHF high-band yagi like an AntennaCraft Y-5-7-13 aimed at PBS channel 11, located at 25 degrees compass point. Combine the signals from the 2 antennas into one cable by using a Pico-Macom ( or equivalent) UVSJ UHF-VHF antenna joiner, then run the output of the UVSJ to either your single TV set, or, if you want to use multiple TV sets, use a distribution amplifier/splitter like a Channel Master CH341x, where x+ the even number of TV sets that you plan to use. All of the Charlotte stations will come in fine if you do. Follow the links provided below to see the equipment.

Thanks for the feedback. One more question: what's the best mounting configuration? I plan to mount them at or near the top of the eave of my roof. Should I stack the antennas or mount them side by side? How far apart? Ok, that was more than one question. ;) Thanks.

I suggest on the same mast, UHF antenna on top, separated by at least 4' vertically.
