Remote Antenna Advice

Postby Herfnwolf on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:24 am

My son is living on a family farm near Four Oaks,NC 27524.

His old home and out buildings are single story and have painted tin roofs and maybe concealed tin siding. The house is located on somewhat high ground. There are some 3 story grain steel silos about .5 miles away.

He currently has a cheap cable ready TV but will hopefully soon have one or two HD sets. He has a digital converter box that will be used until he gets a HD set.

He would like to get digital & HD
4
CBS- 5
WTVD-11
17
22
28
40
50

bonus:
7 Washington (could live without)
9 Greenville (could live without)

Many thanks for the great advice.

He has so many TV stations available to him in that location that he should really consider a good antenna with a preamplifier and a rotator. I would use a Winegard HD-7696P or a HD-7698P plus a Winegard HDP-269 preamplifier and a Channel Master 9521a rotator mounted on the highest ponit of his roof, but never less than 6'-7' above the tin roof He will see a clear digital signal from R-D plus Greenville and other cities with a digital tuner if the system is properly installed. The preamplifier will provide enough additional gain to power 2-4 additional TV sets when the time comes add them.
