Reception advice for Venice, La 70091

Postby nobusiness on Thu Dec 03, 2009 8:59 pm

I have a boat harbored in Venice, Louisiana (70091) with a winegard powered antenna. I have purchased a converter box and have tried to recieve New Orleans TV, which is 80 miles away, but with no luck. I can sporadically get a Pensacola, Florida ABC affiliate but that is it. What would you recommend to reach these stations? The terrain is very flat and no trees or structures near the antenna. I only have one TV. thanks for the help.

the N.O. transmitters are 58 miles from your area in a straight line, and getting the N.O stations will require a deep-fringe UHF and VHF-high-band mounted at least 30' from the ground, and will also require a preamplifier: these requirements are likely to be imptractical on a boat unless you have the option of mounting a tower near the dock where the boat is anchored.

I would use a Winegard HD-7698p VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna mounted on a 30' tower, and a Channel Master Titan 7777 or a Winegard AP-8275 preamplifier aimed a New Orleans, which should be just about 325 degress from your location as measured by a compass.
