A really complex set-up

Postby ngarrang on Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:00 am

What if a person was interested in a really complex antenna configuration? Let's say someone did not want to install a rotator and was willing to point a UHF, lo VHF and hi VHF antenna in the two different directions needed, and then maybe a UHF in a third direction. No channels overlapping. And then have it all feed down into a single coax to your TV.

Sure, it is overly complex, but would such a system be possible, if money were no object?

It is possible. Use a joiner to combine the antennas. Keep in mind though, that a signal is attenuated when passing through a joiner,so that a) a pre-amp is recommended, b) keep the number of antennas down to minimum

Typically, connecting two different antennas that cover the same frequency range but point in different directions is not recommended. Such a setup is prone to multipath. I usually suggest a rotor instead.
