Pulling my hair out here

Postby BOTTLEDZ28 on Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:38 pm

Im about ready to pull my hair out here. I am in search of an outdoor antenna that will pull in my local channels in almost all weather conditions. I have tried a few indoor ones I fired all of them into the woods. I now am looking into something I can mount outside on my rood where the direct tv dish sits. Im hoping I can get some advice here on which models are proven to work and which ones to stay away from. i understand every location is different and its hard to read reviews from other people. My zip code is 02790. Westport MA. I am trying to pull in all the channels from Providence RI. My location came up as yellow which I assume is the best senerio but I have had nothing but issues on the past with indoor antennas and now the search goes on for an outdoor one. Amplified if needed. There is no taller buildings around my house. i live out in the sticks but the trees are not anissue in the direction I need to aim the antenna. I hope someone here can steer me in the right direction for a good quality antenna for my HDTV. Price range is anything under $150. Hope that not the cheaper range of antennas.

How well would the Winegard HD7694P work? How about the Terk HDTVo?

Why limit yourself to the Providence stations: use a little better antenna and a high-input preamplifier and a rotator, and see all of the Boston TV stations, as well: you are well within their range. If this was my installation, I would use a Winegard HD-7696P, a Winegard HDP-269 preamplifier and Channel Master 9521a rotator. Hook it all up on the roof, and you'll better than double the number of TV channels available to you, and will have enough signal that you can run several TV sets from that antenna.

hmm. Thank you for your advice. I will look into that pre amp and rotator. Is this rotator something that is one of those " set it and forget it" deals?

It's an automatic rotator, once oyu set it up, just put your channel into your rotator remote, and the antenna will turn to the correct station. You only really have 2 directions to worry about: Providence and Boston, and they aren't very far apart, based on the compass. An outdoor TV antenna will make a world of difference in the quality of your reception, especially if you have HD.
