Old TV's, old antenna & converter boxes

Postby ksmart on Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:42 pm

We have old TVs that presently get great reception from an old housetop antenna -
Live is a very rural area in the mountains and get stations from 75+ miles away depending on conditions..Not sure where the towers are

We have 2 converter boxes ready to go and were told we need a new antenna also
Hope someone has some suggestions on antennas -
when I entered out zip code on antennaweb there were some suggestions - however with our actual address got nothing

From what I've read, hook up the converter boxes and try them. You may not need a new antennae.

The big difference is HDTV is a straight line signal, not a bounced signal like analog.

My DH works in a metal building. I'll probably get the flat RCA Amplified indoor model for him. Seems to get good reviews.

Mod...why don't you move this thread, or lock it and leave it here?

Hook up the converters and try them. You might not need an antenna. That's what I am doing.

One step at a time.
