Postby jgoss51 on Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:36 pm

what would be a good antenna to put my attic for two tvs. Both tvs have tuners one a four year old Sony LCD projection and a new Samsung LN40A630 LCD.I'm curently using Dish HD for the Sony and no HD for my new TV.Dish does not provide HD for PBS or the NBC channel here.I have a one story home with quite alot of room in my attic.Any help will be welcomed. thanks.

I guess I didn't explain what I was trying to accomplish.I wan't to recieve over the air HDTV broardcast from Pennsacola and Mobile.I want to send these signals to both of my TVs, if I can place the antenna in the attic it will easier/safer than putting it on the roof, but if it doesn't work I will. The Sat. provider only has ABC,CBS,and Fox.If I want PBS or NBC(and I do) in HD I will need an over the air antenna.Right now I'm using an rabbit ear antenna that wife has said has to go,since I've had her for fourty years and shes a good cook I better do what she says.If I can save some money on my Sat. bill and get better HD picture on the local channels whats not to like? All I need now is the right antenna, all the channels are in the red to blue area about 180 degrees apart,I have some pine trees about 70 feet west of my house.Any help will be welcomed. Thanks.

I am always reluctant to suggest an attic antenna for the same reasons I don't suggest an indoor antenna: there are just too many variables to predict success when dealing with antennas mounted inside a house. Although the stations are not far from you, an attic installation can play tricks with signals. The stations in your area are scattered in about a 175 degree arc from your location, and it will be difficult to manage all of them with one aim of the antenna: you are going to need a rotator.

I strongly suggest that you use a Winegard HD-7694P antenna mounted on your roof, and use a Channel Master 9521a rotator to turn the antenna. You should have enough signal to run 2 TV tuners from that one antenna without using amplification if you keep your cable lines short and use a high-quality 1 gHz or better splitter.
