Need some advice

Postby kingjoe on Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:50 pm

I just bought a Philips SDV2740/27 indoor amplified antenna.

I live in Ansonia, CT 06401

I live on top of a hill on the top floor of a 3 story house on Tremont Street.

It will be used for one tv, a 22inch Insignia LCD

The only channels it picks up are 43-1 (WSAH -DT), 43-2 (WSAH - 2), 49-1 (WEDW - 1).

I would really like to pick up at least one or two of the major networks. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks!

It's not going to happen with that antenna: it won't do an adequate job on VHF. WTNH should come in without an issue, but it is on channel 10 digital, and that antenna won't do anything for you. You also should be able to see WCTX-DT, from the same transmitting tower as WTNH. Unfortunately, Ansonia is in a real valley, and you will need an outdoor antenna if you want to see the Hartford stations. I would a Winegard HD-7696p aimed at 45 degrees by your compass: you may also want to use a preamp, and I would use a Winegard HDP-269.
