Need indoor antenna for zip code 85225

Postby smartboomer on Mon Apr 13, 2009 8:57 am

I currently have cable and want to use an indoor antenna to save money. I live in zip code 85225 which is in the Phoenix AZ metro area. Two of my TV's will need a converter box and the other TV is a LCD Digital. Living in a large city with access to many towers I shouldn't have too much trouble getting a good signal. I am in a one story house. Some of the towers are West from my home, but I also have a 2 story house next door on the West side. I've looked at antennaweb.com and other sites but finding an antenna that will work indoors is very confusing. Can I put an antenna in my attic even though I have a stucco house? I read a signal gets diminished going through stucco. Looking for suggestions on what to do and the best antenna to us. Can I connect all the TVs to the same indoor antenna? I need explicit instructions on how to do this because I'm a novice or if I can be directed to a website with explanations and visuals, that would help. Thank you

You will never be satisfied with what indoor antennas will do for you: Stucco siding effectively blocks TV signals from reaching indoors: unless you have the antenna in a window that faces the transmitters you are likely to get singal breakup. I would assume that you already have cable TV run to the places where you currently have TV sets, so use their abondoned cabling to route the TV signals from a roof-mounted antenna to your TV sets.

All of the TV transmitters in Phoenix are on South Mountain in Ahwatukee, about 15 miles due west from you. A small antenna like a Winegard HD-7694P mounted on your roof and aimed at the transmitters shuld give you enough signal to power 3 TV sets if it is installed properly.
