Need help !!!! Please

Postby langle1033 on Mon Nov 02, 2009 1:23 pm

Hello,

I plan to remove my directTV and replace by a outside/inside antenna. I have few questions:

1. My zip code is 27265. It is between 15-20 mile from most stations. I plan to use Wingard SS 2000. What do you think about this choice?

2. At the moment, my directTV disk is pointing to 110-119 and about 7' from ground. Since SS 2000 using same mounting hardware, can I just remove the disk and using the same mounting pole. If yes, then do I have to face the antennna at different angle or same angle ?

3. If I have to mount the antenna at different location, then which one is better: outside but low (4'-5') or inside but high (attic).

Thank you for your input.

Your TV stations are fairly strong, but come from 2 different directions, almost 180 degrees apart: All of your TV stations are on UHF, but NBC, WXII, and WUNC, PBS come from NW of you, and the other stations are SE of you. The SS-2000 is expensive, and not particularly a good choice in your situation. I would suggest a 2-antenna solution mounted on your roof, one UHF antenna, like a Winegard HD-4400 aimed at 150 degrees for most of your stations, and a small UHF yagi like an AntennasDirect XG-42 aimed at 325 degrees for NBC and PBS. Combine the two antennas using a channel 31 or channel 32 Channel Master Join-Tenna, which you can get either from Amazon or from SummitSource.com. Mount the two antenna on the same mast, separated by at least 3' ands mount the yagi antenna on top of the mast: all of your local TV stations will then come in perfectly: if you need to run multiple TV sets from this antenna system, it's easy to do so using a simple amplifier-splitter like a Channel Master CM 341X.

Thank you very much for your input.

One question, can I use TERK FDTV2A Omni Directional Amplified Flat Digital HDTV Antenna instead of 2 set of antennas per your suggestion ?

Thank you
