Need Antenna Help for 71953

Postby POPPAMIKE on Mon Mar 09, 2009 10:30 pm

Need Antenna information for GPS 34.586843 -94.239936, ZIP 71953, Mena, AR, located 100 miles South of Fort Smith (CBS), 126 Miles West of Little Rock(ABC< CBS< NBC), 200 Miles West- South West, of Oklahoma City/Tulsa(PBS). Was receiving wonderful reception on analog, but with the change to HDTV, converter shows "Weak Signal" or "No Signal" on 7 year old large UHF-VHF 12' in length antenna with Booster. With DTV converter I receive nothing, with converter off I receive only one station clearly form OK City. This is a very mountainess area of the Ouachitas and we live in Rural Area West of Mena. Any suggestions - other than Satellite, Thanks, and God Bless

Based on the information that you provided, you will have to take extraordinary measures to see any digital TV reception in your location. Can you tell us what kind of antenna and amplifier that you are using now??

The Antenna is a Radio Shack about 7-8 years old that looks similar to the Winegard HD7697P High Definition VHF/UHF Antenna, but is about 12 Feet long with 10 Six Foot Long elements at the rear to center of antenna at a "V" angle toward the front and 20 very short square ones at the front with two vertical bars with elements below and above, the Booster is from Wal-Mart and it is a Phillips catalog# SWS2083W/17, and the Converter Box is a "Digital Stream" DTX9950. With out Converter Box I get one PBS Station out of OK City and get Fort Smith very snowy and with the converter box I get nothing! I hate to, but I guess I will have to go with satellite TV and Computer link. Thanks Again, PoppaMike
