need antenna advise

Postby t2tone on Thu Jan 14, 2010 12:22 pm

Hi,
I'm located at 54487 and will be running three tv's-2 digital flat screens and on older set with a converter box. I would like to receive all available stations.I plan on a roof mount and would prefer an omni directional antenna if possible. Thanks, Tom

You are too far from the trasmitters to be able to use an omnidirectional antenna and expect reliable reception: omnidirectional antennas are for use 10-15 miles from the transmitters: most of your stations are 30-45 miles from your location. We CAN engineer an antenna system hat will get all of your major networks, however, and do it without breaking the bank.

Here's what I would do: Use a Winegard HD-7694P aimed at 170 degtrees, which will pick up most of the Wausau statons for you: PBS, CBS, ABC and FOX: for NBC, which lies in a different direction, at 70 degrees. To get NBC, you will need a small UHF yagi like a Winegard HD-9022 or a AntennasDirect SR-15 mounted about 4' above the main antenna and aimed at 70 degrees. You will need a Channel Master JoinTenna tuned to channel 16 in order to add the signal to the main antenna. Once the signals from the antennas are joined, run the output of the jointenna into a Channel Master Titan 7778 medium-input preamplifier, and run the output of the preamp to its power supply, then to a high-quality 4-way coaxial splitter, and then distribute the output of the splitter to your TV tuners.
