Need Antenna Advice Please

Postby Mahi on Mon Jan 11, 2010 5:32 pm

Hello Everyone,

I'm planning to drop cable and would like some attena advice.
I'm @ 78209 and have cable in house(1 Story) and want to try to use the exsiting cable, as it's already at each tv. I'd like to feed at least 2, possibly 3 tv's.

One tv is a Samsung Plasma HDTV. The other 2 are a little older, non flatsreen/non HD types.

I'm looking to receive Fox, CBS, NBC, PBS, MyN and ABC

My TV Fool info can be found here.

Thanks for your advice.

The San Antonio stations should be pretty easy: all but the CW and MyTV stations lie in the same direction, and a small antenna like a Winegard HD-7694P or an AntennaCraft HBU-33 aimed at 135 degees by your compass whould pull ABC.NBC, CBS , FOX and PBS. To pick up the MyTV network station, get a small UHF antenna like a Winegard HD-9022 or a Radio Shack 15-2160, and mount that antenna on the same mast, separated from the larger antenna by at least 4', and aim the antenna at that antenna at 280 degrees. Combine the signals from the two antennas by using a Channel Master JoinTenna tuned for channel 32 ( the frequency of KMYS ) and bring the combined signal into your house to some central point such as an attic or a closet where there is AC power available. Use a Channel Master CM3414 amplifier-spliter to divide the signal from the antenna, and make your cable runs to the rooms where the TV sets reside. This amplifier-splitter will allow you to use up to 4 TV sets. The amplifier-splitter will insure that all TV sets get adequate signal regardless of the length of coaxial cable used.

You also have a CW station about 45 miles from your location, It operates on low-band VHF channel 5, and would require a third antenna, a low-band VHF yagi, like a Winegard YA-6260, aimed at 350 degrees and would also require a JoinTenna tuned to channel 5. It is an option for you, and may be necessary if you have teenages in your house. LOL
