Need advice on whole House hook up <30068>

Postby FRED in East Cobb on Thu Sep 17, 2009 6:25 pm

I am currently running a Terk HDTVa to a 42'' Plasma and it Rocks but I want to hook up my whole house. I get great reception in 30068, Marietta Ga. I have been to Antenna web and tvfool and seen what i can get. <I ditched the dish and went strictly OTA-Strictly for financial reasons and i am tired of payng for useless tv crap>. So what I have now is coax running from my old dish to the side of the house to a junction. Can I use that old coax that goes to each TV ? I am looking into mounting a CM4228 in the attic and running it to the old coax junction outside. Can I do this? I will also have to get DTV boxes for the 2 older TV's on the second floor. Is TIVAX the best? Whats the best splitter? Will I need a preamp? Thanks!

A Channel Master 4228 won't do the job for you on channels 8 and 10: you need a Vhf-high-band plus UHF antenna like a Winegard HD-7694P aimed at the transmitters. Bring the coax cable from the antenna to your central wiring point in the house and use a distribution amplifier like a Winegard HDA-100 or a HDA-200 to provide enough signal to power the various TV sets in your house.

Thanks for the advice. You just saved me from buying the CM 4228. PBS is a must have, same with WSB-2.1 in the Atlanta metro Area.

I jsut saw this on the Wineguard --The Winegard 7694P antenna has been specifically tuned for channels 7-69. This antenna has a range for 30 miles for VHF and 25 miles for UHF signals. It is primarily an outdoor antenna and is not intended to be installed indoors. Will i get 2.1 - ABC and Fox 5.1 with this unit?
?

Don't confuse virtual channels with the actual channels, WSB and WAGA are now on UHF channels, not on channels 2 and 5, as they were during the analog days. The Winegard HD7694P is well suited to your needs.
