Multiple TV's

Postby JamesE on Sun Mar 01, 2009 7:49 am

What a great website you have! We are considering the transition from $120 per month satellite to free local TV by antenna. I have found plenty of info on selecting an antenna, where to put it, etc. What I can't find is information about multiple TV's. I would like to have reception on several TV's through the house. All my TV's are the latest, most being HDTV capable and I have no analog only issues. Does receiving the signal by antenna into multiple TV's change anything? Is there some adapter I will need, a booster, or can I just use a normal coaxial splitter and be fine?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Jim

People run multiple TV sets from an antenna all the time, but to know what YOU'LL need, we need either your zip code, or, preferably, your coordinates, in decimal, to make a recommendation.

Thansk for your reply. I've been a bit busy this week and I'm just now getting back to it. My zip is 37865. My coordinates are:

35 52.087N

-83 48.326W

Any assistance you can give would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to buy what I need this week.

Thanks,

Jim

Pick up a Winegard HD-7696P VHF-high-band + UHF antenna, mount in on the roof and aim it at 315 degrees. Run the coaxial cable from the antenna down to a central location where AC power is available, and use a Winegard HDA-100 amplifier to amplify the signal, then run coaxial cables to the places where you have TV sets. Use a high-quality 4 way 1 gHz or better splitter to connect the amplifier to the splitter, power up the amplifier, and you should be good to go.
